These are some of the quotes reviews and news clippings about Mike Surman....
Robin Gig 2010
Mike Surman? Front page news without the words Violence, Police or Taxi Driver in the Headline? Read on.....

You know you're in the right place when Mike Surman takes the stage to start the night right! He's fast becoming the support artist of choice and played a great set with plenty of songs to warm up the audience and get them singing along. With his engaging banter he's a real crowd pleaser and his jokes are always on the money. His cover versions always please, and Elton John's 'Rocket Man' is a particular favourite which really highlights his voice.

You know you're in for a good night when the singing and dancing starts and that's only from the support act! With a sold out venue packed to the rafters the evening started as it meant to go on.
Mike Surman - who's soon to have his own headline slot at the venue - was in the mood to shine and the audience lapped it up and joined in with every song and there were some classics to sing along to. There were also more than a few jokes and many a mention of his new boots. Mike did a great version of the Ballad Of John and Yoko and even an audience request for Route 66. Mike winged it and won. Even he said it was the best gig yet in all the time he's been playing there.... (Please check out the full review here....

'A very confident & versatile artist producing a truly excellent performance. As live as you can get it with a solo artist with a professional look & sound. Thanks Mike!'
(Review by John Scott July 2004 : The Circuit Magazine)

'Mike Surman is an excellent Singer & Guitarist & I would fully recommend him ANYWHERE! He is always on time and never ever lets us down!!'
(Review by Nita Anderson Entertainments 1959-2004. As seen on ITV Entertainers)
Nick Dagger (Lead Singer with the Counterfeit Stones)
'He's such a modest chap. His last name is actually "Superman" but being such a super talent he was humble enough to drop the pe. He also dropped PE in school. Mike already knew that those little pink hands and fingers were not to be risked on vaulting horses or gouging eyes on the rugby pitch but for creating beautiful music. Mike plays his guitar with the affection of a potter at his wheel or the Boston strangler around his victim's neck.
Mike knows what his right hand's for and practises very hard every night. Like a late night forger Mike risks failing eyesight with hours of endless stroking. He spanks his plank with the gusto of a lifer with a new copy of playboy and I've seen audiences reduced to tears with the sheer emotion of his act. I could go on but it was only seem like biased opinion or the rantings of someone who's been bribed.
In short, Mike Surman is a must at any party or gig. Imagine any do without its vol au vents and cheese straws and you'll get what I mean.
With Mike you get great songs, sung with a great voice and a brilliant selection of shirts. We in the Counterfeit Stones insist he supports us at the Robin 2 and long may he strum.
'As Topline Entertainments we have used Mike Surman, 2001-2005 in many of our venues for solo artistes. He is reliable, friendly and above all talented! Everyone enjoys his music and is frequently re-booked. We never have any doubt about calling Mike for his services!'
(Topline Entertainments)

'A very professional performance. The first time I've ever heard people talking & asking about the support all over the venue!'
(Roy Wood 2001 Unconvention)

This is a girl fan who just couldn't take the pressure anymore when she saw Mike Surman perform. If not for my trusty security she would have recieved a nasty bump on the head....
I've seen 2 of Mike's gigs, and would class him as a good friend(hope he would do likewise). As well as being a great, all round, professional performer,he's a decent, easy to talk to bloke. Book him,and I promise you won't be disappointed.

This Surman is the man, sir! I've sung for Michelle Yeoh, Elvised for Jackie Chan and rapped for Sammo Hung, but even I bow to the man who can bring Great Barr Social to its feet. You have... our... gratitude!

Mike is a fucking legend and the thing I miss most about leaving the Counterfeit Stones is listening to him play before us at the Robin 2. Oh those were the days....

Saw you in the Vine in Bridgnorth on Tuesday night and all I can say is WOW! Every week they have a different live act and they are generally very good but I have never seen the place as busy or as rocking as it was on Tuesday!!! I can't decide what was more entertaining.. you singing or the amount of people dancing and singing along with you!!! What a fab night, I hope to see you down there on a regular basis, my friends and I definitely had the BEST night. Thanks very much! xx P.S. My friend was trying to get a pic for you to put on here but people kept getting in the way of our view of you... sorry! x

Oh what a night last night at the Pie Factory, Tipton. Us girlies were out on our Christmas party night and had intended to not stay long, but with Mike entertaining us why go anywhere else. Not only did he manage to get some guys dancing there were one of two of them on the tables! Some great new songs with some of our favourites including Waiting In Vain and the Snake. See you at a gig soon Luv Jude, Ann, Trudi and Steph x
